Here we are going to create a discount you would typically see over a particular season, such as a Christmas sale or early summer sale. The main aspect of this discount will be the date range, since that is what controls when a discount is active.

Go ahead and enter the Name, Code, Discount Type, and a Value for this discount. Since this is a seasonal discount we would recommend that you do not set a usage limit, they are better used for short promotions.

It makes sense to have this discount apply to all your products since you often see “10% off everything” during these kinds of promotions.

In the Visibility section set Active in shop to unchecked.

Date range is the most important part of this discount. Here you need to select when you want this promotion to start and end. For something like as Christmas discount it would be good to set the start date on 1st December, and have it finish 25th December, and then you can have a new after Christmas sale set to run on the 26th December onward. As far as times go it doesn’t really matter at this point, however having a discount start at 00:00 and end at 23:00 makes things a bit easier. Remember to uncheck the No end date box.
