SKUs

Stock Keeping Unit (or SKU) are used to uniquely identify items that you can carry in your inventory. They are also incredibly useful when it comes to shipping and stock-room management.

Generating SKUs

In Shopblocks SKUs are automatically generated when you create a product, so you don’t have to worry about inputting them. However, if you have your own system of producing SKUs then feel free to overwrite the automatically generated SKU.

We generate the SKUs by using the first 3 or 4 letters of your product name followed by a group of numbers. We do this so that it’s easier to find which product goes where without the assistance of a computer, and so that you can alphabetise your stock room if you need to.

Deliveries and SKUs

When creating order invoices we include the SKU of each product purchased on that order. This helps out if you of your customer has any issues they need to fix. If you customer contacts you with the SKU of the product then you can put that into the search bar on the products page and find exactly which product they’re talking about.
