Introducing the text editor
There is one kind of special text editor that we use throughout Shopblocks that has many useful features, and this article discusses how to make the most of it.
The text editor is found in areas such as BlockLab, products, pages, categories, product groups and more. It’s quite powerful and is much more than just a simple text editor. Most of the features also have hotkeys, meaning you can press a combination of keys to use that feature.
To bold a word or a group of words, highlight and click on the ‘Bold’ (B) button.
To italicise your text, highlight and click on the ‘Italics’ (I) button.
To underline your text, highlight and click on the ‘Underline’ (U) button.
There are some pre-set styles that you can apply to your content. To do this, highlight the content you wish to change, click on the style button and select the style you want.
To create a numbered list, click on the ‘Numbered List’ button (the three numbers with horizontal lines) and enter your first item. Press the Enter/Return key to move down to the next item. Once you have finished with all your items click on the numbered list button again to exit that mode.
Bullet Point Lists
To create a list of bullet points, click on the ‘Bullet Point’ list button (the three bullet points with horizontal lines) and enter your first item. Press the Enter/Return key to move down to the next item. Once you have finished adding your list items click on the bullet point list button again to exit that mode.
To create a hyperlink (a link to somewhere else on the web), highlight the section of text you wish to turn into a link and click on the ‘Hyperlink’ button (the chain links). In the popup window that appears, enter the address of where you want the link to take your users making sure to include ‘http://’ before the ‘www’.
If you want the link to open in a new window when clicked, check the ‘Open in new window’ checkbox. Once you have finished click on ‘Insert Link’ and your link will be created and will be underlined to show you it is a link.
To delete a hyperlink, click on it and select the ‘Unlink’ (broken chain link) button.
To edit a hyperlink, click on it and select the Hyperlink (chain link) button again. You can then make your changes in the popup window and click Insert Link once you have finished.
In the Shopblocks text editors, you have the option to view and insert HTML code. It is recommended that you do not enter the code view unless you know what you’re doing. If you accidentally click on the code view button, simply click OK to return to the normal text view.
Big chunks of paragraph text can sometimes be a little difficult to read, so adding line spacing is a great way of improving readability.
To add line spacing select all your text, and click the Line Height dropdown menu. Here you can select the spacing level you would like:
Then the text will change reflecting the new level of spacing you have applied:
Adjusting font size
Font size can be changed via the size dropdown. For more granular control you can use the font size increase and decrease buttons to adjust sizes on point at a time.
Changing text colour
